TCCS Classical Singers

In May of 2009, a meeting of interested persons was held to see if there were enough interest in the community for the establishment of a branch of Treasure Coast Community Singers that would perform Classical works.

The decision was made to pursue the development of the TCCS Classical Singers.
The original plan was to start rehearsals in August for a performance in November. However, there was such support to launch the group as soon as possible, that rehearsals began in June to perform Mozart's Requiem Mass. The free concert introducing the new Classical Singers and benefiing first responders in the area was performed on September 11th. Fifty singers and four soloists were accompanied by an eighteen-piece orchestra.
The performance was outstanding and very well received

In November, we performed Mendelssohn's Hymn of Praise. Our fifty singers and three soloists were accompanied by a twenty-one piece orchestra. This performance was also outstanding.

February 21, 2010 sixty singers, two soloists and a twenty-one piece orchestra performed
Puccini's "Messa di Gloria" to a standing room only audience.

The response to our trial year has been so positive, that we will be performing again this year on May 2, 2010.
The concert, entitled "Encore", will be selections from all three concerts we have performed this year:
Mozart's "Requiem Mass", Mendelssohn's "Hymn of Praise" and Puccni's "Messa de Gloria"

Rehearsals are held on Tuesday nights from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at North Stuart Baptist Church.
All singers must audition for acceptance into the chorus. Dues are $35 for each session, plus the cost of the music: around $8, depending on the work. The attire for the performances is a concert dress for the women and a tuxedo for the men.

We are looking forward to performing many of the wonderful Classical works.
